MediGeek llc: "The best paperless medical practice management system available anywhere."

MediGeek llc owns a practice management software solution for private physicians called Medicfusion. The product, developed by David Berring, a Doctor of Chiropractic with a practice in Mason, helps physicians collect more and work less with fewer staff. A beta version launched in November has sold four subscriptions. The company is also in negotiations with a 1000-physician consulting firm and has 45 "hot" leads from attendance at a conference. MediGeek llc is seeking $500,000 to fund a national sales and marketing campaign.

In addition to David, the management team consists of Melisa Rottinghaus, Dean Rottinghaus, DC, and Robert Guiher. Melisa successfully re-branded her husband's East Kemper Chiropractic, a $40k/year practice, into the $5 million Spaaaah! For Medical Wellness. Dean is owner of Spaaaah! And East Kemper Chiropractic with many industry contacts. Robert is one the of the founders and CIO of Frontgate which was later sold to Cornerstone Brands.

The Medicfusion product provides superior benefits and technology. David says other software programs require multiple modules and are "clunky" to use, while Medicfusion is efficient and eliminates transcription errors. MediGeek estimates a 15% increase in efficiency by going paperless with Medicfusion, plus 15% more profit due to elimination of slow pays because of filing errors. The system is easy to use and allows a physician office to operate with fewer people.

Medicfusion is priced as a subscription based on monthly patient visits. For 25 and under patient visits, the product is free. As the physician offices grow, MediGeek's income grows.

Competitively, other software programs do not deliver what Medicfusion can. Medisoft and Lytec have 140,000 customers but provide mostly accounting support. Rapid EMR was created to fill the clinical documentation gap. However, only Medicfusion delivers a "truly paperless and fully integrated software solution over the web. And only Medicfusion offers a true patient portal." With aggressive marketing, MediGeek hopes to hit the ground running and leave others who hope to enter this market behind.

Financial projections show revenue reaching $9.3 million by 2009, with a net income of $2.3 million. MediGeek hopes to achieve a merger or acquisition by 2012. They are seeking $500,000 to launch a national sales and marketing campaign and maintain a strong commitment to maximum competitive appeal. They had raised $300,000 in round one, which closed a year ago. They project break-even late this year and are TITC-accredited.
